An adorable dog was skilfully rescued by a paddleboarder in Richmond today after getting in trouble in the water.

Ruby excitedly jumped into the Thames after her owner threw bread into the river to feed the ducks.

Thankfully, paddleboarder Kevin De Klerk was on hand.

The heartwarming scene was captured by photographer Vivi Sacerdote in a video which you can watch at the top of the story.

She said: "It all happened very fast and the poor owner was standing next to me in shock and was about to jump in when Kevin came to the rescue ðŸ˜."

Kevin told Richmond Nub News: "All I can say is that I am really happy that Ruby is back home and safe and that I was in the right place at the right time in order to help out .

"Very happy indeed."
