Experts from Swansway Motor Group reviewed data by area and discovered that Richmond's 460 EV chargers ranks highest in Outer London for electric chargers per 100,000.

Only Coventry with 499 chargers per 100,000 had better EV infrastructure outside of inner London.

Richmond, along with the majority of London is far ahead of the rest of the UK for electric charging infrastructure, there are 89 chargers per 100,000 people across the UK.

A spokesperson for Swansway said: "It's great to see Richmond and other areas of London embracing electric vehicles and putting the measures into place so that transitions are seamless.

"This is how to encourage people to make the switch to electric cars."

Following these statistics, Swansway are calling on the rest of the UK to follow Richmond's example: "These recent statistics reflect how EV infrastructure must develop across the country as we transition into more sustainable transport."

The motor company added: "Manufacturers are producing cars with ever increasing ranges but if the infrastructure is not growing at the same rate, then drivers will be put off making the switch to electric vehicles.

"Greater Manchester having 14x less chargers per 100,000 than London sums up the issue."
