A woman has been jailed for two years for fraud and burglary.

Denise Lee, 51, entered a house in South Twickenham via open French window at the back on May 24.

She was disturbed by the resident but ran off, taking the victim's purse with her.

Lee then used the victim's debit card at a nearby shop, buying alcohol, thereby committing fraud by false representation.

Thanks to a post on Nextdoor by South Twickenham ward officer PC Ray Sullivan about a previous conviction of Lee's, the victim recognised her as the thief and contacted police.

Lee, of no fixed abode, spent time in custody for a separate burglary earlier this year.

She was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court to a total of two years in prison for three counts of burglary and one count of fraud.

PC Sullivan said: "A two year custodial sentence was a great result. Lee has been constantly offending in the area and the residents of South Twickenham will have a much needed break from her offending."
