Gas works on A316 may last for 13 weeks with lanes closed

Gas works on the A316 are about to begin and may last for up to 13 weeks.
The major A-road will be reduced to a single lane in both directions on Great Chertsey Road between Hospital Bridge Roundabout and Apex Corner while the works take place.
Letters from contractors Cadent Gas have been sent to residents and road users have been advised to plan their journeys in advance.
The works start on Monday, January 25.
Cadent are replacing and upgrading old large diameter metal gas mains located deep beneath the road.
The company says this will let it provide safe and reliable energy to homes and businesses across the borough into the future and cut the frequency of unplanned repair work to ageing gas pipes.
A section of the footpath on the A316 Great Chertsey Road will also be shut.
Cadent Gas will work alongside Richmond Council to minimise the impact on residents.
