Responsibilities:

• Once in post, you will safeguard children and young people from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
• You will safeguard children where reports of neglect are reported.
• You may gather information from various sources, including the child, family members, schools, healthcare providers and other relevant parties, to evaluate the level of risk and determine appropriate interventions.
• You will aim to effectively develop and implement child protection plans aimed at mitigating risks and ensuring the safety of children.
• You may participate in case meetings and court proceedings as necessary.
• Once working with your caseload, you will become an advocate for the best interests of the child and ensuring that safeguarding measures are effectively implemented.
• You may engage in preventative work, such as delivering training & awareness-raising initiatives within communities, schools and other settings to promote early identification of risks and improve safeguarding practices.

We take a motivational approach to supporting families under the Family Safeguarding model. This is a strength based model and includes a multi-agency approach to working with children and families. We have brought together Social Workers, Family Support Workers and a range of adult practitioners; Domestic Abuse Practitioners, Recovery Workers, Mental Health Practitioners and Psychologists so that the whole team can work together to address all the issues facing a family. Having professionals from different disciplines working under one roof, our teams are able to work closely together, minimising the time spent on making referrals to other agencies for support.

Essential Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children and families in a social work setting, for a minimum of three years.
• A degree in social work with completion of ASYE.
• Registration with Social Work England as a Qualified Social Worker.
• A valid UK drivers license, with access to own car & ability to travel nationally.
• Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to identify risks and develop effective intervention plans.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
• A commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity.
