The team that brought you the OSO show everyone was raving about (What the Dickens?) is back!

In collaboration with CarmenCo, The Telling presents Creating Carmen, a concertplay (where music and theatre collide) by Arts Richmond Radio-Play Competition Winner, Clare Norburn and BAFTA-nominated director, Nicholas Renton.

Prosper Merimée (Niall Ashdown -Comedy Store, The Globe) is struggling with his latest novella (on which Bizet'sCarmencomes to be based), when his leading character, Carmen (Suzanne Ahmet -Generation Z, Ludwig), turns up in his study, larger than life, with a band of musicians in tow and chaos in her wake. Which one of them controls the narrative? And what will happen when Carmen discovers the nasty ending Mérimée has planned for her?

A fun-filled performance of fantasy, comedy, drama and tremendous music from Bizet'sCarmenand Spanish-inspired music by Boccherini, Manuel de Falla, García Lorca, Granados, Ravel and Albeniz, all arranged and performed by the prizewinning trio, CarmenCoEmily Andrews(flute/mezzo), David Massey and Francisco Correa (classical guitars).
