A sea scout group in Richmond are delighted with their "light and airy" new clubhouse after 10 years of waiting to replace their old building.

Petersham and Ham sea scouts revealed their new premises (pictured above) last week.

They will be opening their modern, sea-green scout hut on Saturday 11 September in a 10am ceremony performed by MP Sarah Olney.

In an article for Richmond Council, the sea scouts said it has been a ten year dream for the new building to become a reality.

"It took 4 years for the preplanning and planning application alone to be approved," they revealed.

"Stringent guidelines had to be followed as the building site is on open metropolitan land where building is restricted.

"The membership is delighted with the result which is an airy building with light flooding in through large windows - a great improvement on the dark garage-type hut that was replaced."

What do you think of the new design?
