A main causeway in Richmond Park will close this week for repair works which will take nearly two months, The Royal Parks have said.

The Pen Ponds Causeway will be closed for works from today until October 4, and authorised works/trade/construction vehicles will be using the closed roads between Sheen Gate, the Royal Ballet School, and Pen Ponds.

The work will raise the height of the causeway to strengthen it and protect it against flooding.

The Royal Parks said: "[We] appreciate that the causeway provides a very desirable section for many routine walks.

"However, pedestrians will not be able to walk through the work site for obvious safety reasons."
