You shall go to the ball ... or at least to the market.

We're thrilled to say that Kew Village Christmas Market will be very much open for business and celebration on Sunday, December 6.

With over 40 stalls from the best independent traders (full list here), you'll find the finest foodie treats and wantable original hand-made presents, lovely decorations and Christmas wreaths, hampers and special gift packs. This could be your one-stop Christmas shop in the gorgeous setting of Kew Village en fete.

At Kew Village Market's own stall there'll be our traditional Kew-in-the-snow Christmas cards and bargain stocking-fillers-cum-tree-presents in the form of the KVM cookbook, CD and our new organic cotton tote bag.

Santa (or his representative) will have presents in his sack for four local good causes with KVM cheques for:

  • Windham Nursery School to buy a swing for their Sensory Room
  • Riverbank Trust to provide Christmas bags for vulnerable families
  • React to help support children with life-shortening illnesses
  • Kew Traders Association with KVM's contribution to the village Christmas lights which have lifted all our spirits.

As if all this weren't Christmas cheer enough, there'll be seasonal spices in the air with mulled wine from Kew Rotary (also very gluggable hot gin toddy from Distillers of Surrey to warm the cockles).

And while the market's in full swing there'll be music to match from the talented-beyond-their-years Richmond Youth Jazz Band.

Santa hats and festive facemasks will be worn as we make it the best socially distanced party ever.

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday from 10am to 2pm.

PS And a happy new year to you too as there will be no market in January. Normal KVM service will be resumed (we trust) on Sunday February 7.

PPS We've just heard that Bee Inspired, noted for their natural skincare products, have scooped four gongs at the inaugural Free From Gift Awards – two Golds and one each Silver and Bronze – for their perfect-for-Christmas gift packs. Huge congratulations to them.

Thanks to Kew Village Market for this story. The market is volunteer-run with all operating profits given to local charities. More than £75,000 has been given to charity since 2011.
