Mosaics for Beginners

Cass Art, 103 Clarence Road, Kingston upon Thames KT1 1QY

UNTIL Sunday 10th April

Why not treat yourself to a Sunday of creativity and come and learn how to make your very own mosaic work of art?

During the class, led by experienced teacher and mosaic artist Tina de Domingo, you will first choose a shape to work on – for example a coaster square, a rabbit or bird. Then the fun begins as you select your materials from Tina's wide range of beautiful glass and ceramic pieces, then learn how to cut and lay your pieces to create your chosen design. By the end of the session, you will have all your pieces glued down, and you will have a choice of grout to take away, together with full instructions so that you can complete your mosaic at home once the glue has fully dried. Tina will also demonstrate the grouting process and ensure you understand the final steps to completing your piece.

This workshop is ideal for both beginners and improvers, as each participant is able to work at their own pace. There is no requirement to cut the glass and ceramic pieces down, so anyone with reduced hand strength and agility is very welcome to take part. All materials and tools are provided, but please feel free to bring anything you would like to incorporate.

We suggest wearing older clothes and you might want to bring an apron.

Classes have a maximum of 8 participants to ensure that Tina is able to provide tailored guidance for each individual.

We'll also provide tea, coffee and homemade cake to help the creative process!

Please note that the studio space is upstairs at Cass Art and there is unfortunately no lift access.
