All-day closure of car park in Richmond Park for essential work

Motorists have been informed that a car park in Richmond Park will be closed later this week.

Kingston Gate Car Park is set to be shut for the whole day on Wednesday, November 11.

A note on the Royal Parks website says this is for "essential tree work".

In September a large tree which stood enclosed in a metal frame split clean in half and fell onto a number of parked cars.

The following day half of the car park was shut as contractors removed the broken tree.

A spokesperson for the Royal Parks charity told us what Wednesday's work involves: "We're taking out the stump of the tree that previously collapsed and doing some other routine pruning work."
