The whole of London was escalated into the very high alert band of Covid-19 restrictions this week.
Richmond is now under Tier 3 – but what are the rules and how long will they last for?
Under the tougher Tier 3 restrictions cafes, hotels, pubs and restaurants can only offer a takeaway or delivery service. Eating in is not allowed, and venues across Richmond which are staying open have removed their tables and chairs.
People can't meet indoors or outdoors with people outside their households or support bubbles.
This will be relaxed on Wednesday, December 23 when three households will be able to form a Christmas bubble until December 27.
Healthwatch Richmond upon Thames has issued this helpful guidance on the five-day Christmas bubble period.
The following rules apply in Tier 3
- households cannot mix indoors or outdoors in private gardens or hospitality venues.
- the 'Rule of Six' applies outdoors in public spaces.
- pubs and restaurants are closed except for takeaway and delivery.
- indoor entertainment venues are closed, only drive-in events allowed.
- residents are advised against travelling outside the area
- schools will remain open.
- weddings and Civil Ceremonies allow 15 guests, but receptions not allowed
- up to 30 people are allowed at funerals.
- outdoor sport can continue; indoor sport is only permissible with members of one household.
Last night many Richmond pubs called last orders on their trade for 2020.
The Cricketers said: "Well, after a crazy year we are once again asked to close our doors.
"Tonight will be our last night and we look forward to seeing all of you who will pop in."
