A woman was stopped from jumping off Richmond Bridge, police said.

She was brought back to safety thanks to the efforts of a member of the public alongside officers from Kew and Richmond police teams.

South Richmond police posted the following on Twitter this afternoon (Tuesday, September 22).

"Team effort - with the assistance of @MPSKew, @MPSNthRichmond and a member of the public, all working together with a female who was close to jumping off Richmond bridge. #thankyou

"The female is now with medical professionals seeking help."

Well done to the officers and member of the public involved.
