What's on in Richmond this weekend

As more and more events are being organised locally Nub News is launching a new weekly round-up of what's on in Richmond each weekend.
Every Thursday we will now bring you our top picks of the events in our town for the coming weekend.

We Gather!
We Gather is a series of street events, including live music, storytelling, entertainment and open air classes, in the centre of Richmond.
The events are centred on Whittaker Avenue, which runs from the town towards the riverside, and will take place from today through to the end of November.
Today – Thursday, October 28 – offers a drama workshop for those aged 7-13 with Richmond Theatre, which is looking forward to panto season and welcoming Anton Du Beke as Buttons in Cinderella.
And at lunchtime, bhuti will be offering a refuge from the stresses of life with a free back/neck/shoulder or a hand/arm massage.
This evening there will be live music from the Rigmarollers - a feel-good band offering everything from prohibition-era jazz, blues and jug band numbers, to rousing gospel singalongs and foot-tapping zydeco grooves.
Other events through the weekend include performances by the Perrin Jazz Collective, a Drumming and Harmony Workshop with Scritti Polliti's Tom Morley along with Storytelling with Dawn Ellis, who loves bringing traditional stories to new audiences.
The event is being organised by Be Richmond.
Richmond Theatre – The Dresser
Matthew Kelly, winner of an Olivier Award for Of Mice and Men, stars alongside Julian Clary in The Dresser.
It is set in 1942 in a war-torn provincial theatre where an ageing actor manager, known to his loyal acting company as 'Sir', is struggling to cling on to his sanity and complete his two hundred and twenty seventh performance of King Lear.
It is down to his dresser, Norman, to ensure that in spite of everything, the show goes on.
For sixteen years Norman has been there to fix Sir's wig, massage his ego, remind him of his opening lines and provide the sound effects in the storm scene.
Orange Tree Theatre – Rice Rice is an award-winning story of corporate politics and family.The Orange Tree is hosting the UK premiere of the play, which has won numerous awards including the Australian Writers' Guild Award for Best Original Stage Play.
The production, starring Zainab Hasan (Nisha) and Sarah Lam (Yvette), runs until November 13.
OSO Arts Centre Barnes Green – Blackadder - October 29-30 Blackadder in Barnes features stage versions of three episodes from the much-loved BBC TV series written by Richard Curtis and Ben Elton. Follow Edmund Blackadder's trials and tribulations as he and Baldrick produce cunning plans to deal with all the obstacles which Percy, Melchett, Queenie, Nursey and a cast of thousands (well about ten, anyway) put in their way. Brought to the OSO by Barnes Community Players.
