Hello from Richmond Nub News - and how you can get involved

9th Jul 2020 | Local News

A NEW online newspaper has been launched in Richmond to cover the community stories that matter to you.

Welcome to Richmond Nub News, the news website that gets to the heart of our community.

We are part of the hyperlocal journalism network Nub News with sites across the UK.

It promises to be an online newspaper – your town in your pocket – packed with news, views, photography and more.

How to find us on social media

Join the discussion about the town's current affairs on our Facebook page. We're also on Twitter and Instagram.

We aim to make your experience with us as enjoyable and informative as possible.

There are no annoying pop-up ads or surveys on our website – just a good read of all things Richmond.

Tell us your stories with #NubIt

Richmond Nub News empowers groups, societies and individuals to post their own stories directly to our website.

Simply click Nub It, input your copy, pictures and contact details and we'll check it over before uploading it to our site. As easy as that!

We are here to boost Richmond's high street, businesses and charities, cheer on our sports teams and schools, and promote our restaurants, pubs, cinemas and the wider community.

Richmond Nub News will report the everyday news that affects residents, but we want positive stories that we as a community can celebrate.

If there's something you want to shout about, don't be shy! Get in touch and tell us your story.

Supporting business in Richmond

One of our principles is to champion business and promote the high street.

That's why we are running a free directory on our site exclusively for Richmond businesses.

If you are a company owner, visit our Local List and click Nub It to display details of your business on our website.

In no time we hope it will be a comprehensive A-Z - with all of Richmond's professionals, services and businesses in one handy place.

Promote your event!

As of July 6, our What's On page is now live. This means we'll promote your event for free.

Whether you're throwing a socially-distanced concert, leading a class or holding a fundraising event, we'd love to feature it.

To submit your event listing, just go to our events page and click on the black Nub It button. You will then be taken to a screen where you can upload the event's details and a photo.

It only takes a few minutes, and once it has been checked over by a member of our editorial team we will share it to give your event as big a boost as possible.

Nub News' 10 principles

Nub News chief executive Karl Hancock said: "We encourage our journalists to delve into the community and talk to the people that really matter.

"We want to go back to how journalism was 25 years ago. We meet the people that care about their town, including councillors, the chamber, the sports teams, shops and businesses.

"You can read about our 10 principles here."

We want to promote local causes and charities, in fact, we want to be your first port of call for everything going on around Richmond.

Journalistic standards, integrity, professionalism and fairness are paramount to what we do.

Your regional editor Sam Petherick, who grew up in Richmond, is an experienced news journalist and is thrilled to now run Richmond Nub News.

Email him on [email protected] with anything you would like to say, tips and any questions about our service.

Thanks again for the super support we have already received and here's to a bright future.
