Three new Covid-19 cases in Richmond in single day

Three people in Richmond have tested positive for Covid-19 in a single day for the first time in weeks.
The three positive tests were recorded on Saturday, August 8.
It means a total of 566 people in Richmond have caught the virus and the town's infection rate continues to rise.
It now stands at 285.8 cases per 100,000 people in the population, up from 278.8 at the end of July.
Richmond is still faring much better than the majority of London with the average rate in the capital standing at 405.7. This figure is an increase from the rate of 396.8 on July 31.
Earlier today we reported that Richmond has the highest NHS Test and Trace testing uptake in London.

However, Richmond Council leader Gareth Roberts has been urging caution.
Last week he said he was "incredibly concerned that too many people appear to be letting their guard down and no longer see Covid19 as a threat".
In the 11 days to Sunday, August 9, there have been 13 new cases of coronavirus recorded in Richmond.
