There have been no new recorded coronavirus cases in Richmond in the last three days.

Official figures show there have been 9 confirmed cases in the borough in the last 12 days.

Richmond's rate of infection is much lower than the London average and lower still when compared to the rest of the UK.

In Richmond there have been 278.8 cases per 100,000 people in the population. This compares favourably to the capital's average of 396.8 cases per 100,000.

Across the country, the rate is 465.4.

There is a chance, however, that the number of cases for the past few days will rise when 'Pillar 2' tests are counted.

These are tests which are carried out in the community, such as those posted to people's houses or carried out at drive-through centres and mobile testing units.

The results take longer to process than 'Pillar 1' tests which are carried out by the NHS, Public Health England or in care settings.

A total of 549 people in Richmond have contracted coronavirus and there have been 150 deaths. A Richmond councillor wrote this moving tribute to those who have lost their lives.

Speaking in mid-July, Richmond's director of public health said the borough was "genuinely down to really low numbers of cases".
