A man has been jailed for stealing bibles and rosaries from a church.

Luke Tucker, 27, was jailed for 12 weeks for the raid.

South Richmond Police posted on Twitter on July 7 saying its officers made the arrest.

It is unclear which specific church was targeted.

The Metropolitan Police said: "We were called to reports of a theft of items from within a church in the Sheen area.

"Two bibles and two rosaries were stolen on June 11 by a suspect who was identified as Luke Tucker, 12/11/93 of no fixed abode.

"He was sentenced in Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on the 12/06/2020 to 12 weeks in prison."
