These are the Covid-19 statistics for Richmond upon Thames. Over the last seven days, 303 new cases of the virus have been linked to the borough, bringing the total number of cases identified since March to 2,012.

There have been no deaths over the last seven days, therefore the total number of deaths linked to the virus in Richmond remains at 153.

There have been 3,236 tests conducted over the last seven days, with a positive return rate of 9.2%. The discrepancy between the number of cases identified and the positive return rate is explained by people having more than one test.

You will be aware that the number of cases is rising across the country and one of the major causes for that rise is the failure of people to self-isolate properly.

So if you have symptoms, please ensure that you get tested and self-isolate while you await the result of those tests. If you have been tested positive or have been instructed to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace then you must self-isolate. It is a legal requirement to do so and you can be fined if you fail to comply.

And, of course, when you are self-isolating, please self-isolate properly. It means staying at home and those people who you live with [also] staying at home, not popping out to the shops, not gonig to the shops, not jumping on public transport. It means staying at home.

And for the rest of us, it's important that we continue following all of the rules with which we have become familiar.

• washing our hands wherever possible
• wearing a face mask or covering properly while travelling on public transport or in shops, supermarkets or similarly enclosed public spaces
• maintaining a social distance of at least two metres
• maintaining the rule of six
