As January drew to a close, it looked as if the wretched winter weather might spike our chances of a spin on the bike.

But not in Richmond Park.

Martin Williamson praised management for gritting the roads so that people could ride safely on Sunday.

Martin wrote: "It would have been fair for the Royal Parks to look at the conditions in Richmond Park this morning, throw their hands up and say: 'We can't make that safe. Lock the gates'.

"But instead they gritted like heroes. Thanks to them hundreds were out there enjoying it. THANK YOU!"

Mark Carlisle added: "Yes. They did a great job, thank you."
