A Met Office weather warning for wind and rain has been issued, as Richmond gets set for a wet start to October.

It runs on Friday (October 2) and covers London and the South East.

The forecaster warned that:

  • flooding of a few homes and businesses in urbanised areas is likely
  • spray and flooding on roads will make for dangerous driving conditions resulting in longer journey times.
  • it's likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
  • delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
  • some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely

Temperatures over the next few days will range from highs of 13-15C, getting as cold as 8C at night.

Friday and Saturday are predicted to see the worst of the weather, with heavy rain throughout large parts of both days and even some thundery showers.

The weather should improve from Wednesday, October 7 when sunny intervals and a gentle breeze is forecast.
