A world-renowned chocolate company has submitted an application to install new signage at the former House of Fraser building in Richmond.

Lindt & Sprüngli Ltd, famous for its Lindor Truffle line, is the latest commercial tenant to apply at 80 George Street, the building that has been redeveloped to accommodate a mix of retail, hospitality, and office spaces across its five storeys.

On behalf of Lindt, Formadesign Ltd stated that the brand "proposes to reintroduce appropriate signage to the premises at 80 George Street, reflective of the unit's new identity and function, while respecting the character of the conservation area."

Plans include:

• Two projecting signs on either side of the entrance
• One fascia sign above the entrance
• Two fascia letter signs on the George Street and Golden Court elevations

The agent added: "All signage has been designed to be modest in scale and will use high-quality materials and a restrained colour palette, ensuring it complements the existing building and the wider townscape.

"The installation will avoid any significant or irreversible impact on the building's fabric and will remain sympathetic to the conservation-led context of the Central Richmond Conservation Area."

The building which housed the department store closed in September 2020 and is now owned by Sheen Lane Development.

Originally constructed as a Dickins & Jones store in 1968, the site was acquired and rebranded by House of Fraser in 2007.

Lindt will join Danish restaurant Sticks'n'Sushi, which opened at the building last year.
