Richmond's McDonald's reopened today following a five month closure.

It was closed due to a fire that took place in July this year and caused damage to the roof.

Since the closure, it has been under renovations to reopen with a 'convenience of the future' restaurant redesign, which includes a separate entrance for delivery drivers, a new restaurant layout, and sustainable innovations.

It reopened this morning at 11 am and the first customer was greeted with a round of applause by staff, managers, and the builders who had been working on the site.

Rebecca Snowden, business manager at Richmond McDonald's said: "We've been waiting five months for the store to reopen and the managers, the staff, and I'm sure the customers are very excited for us to be back on Richmond High Street."

The restaurant quickly filled up with customers and delivery drivers coming to collect their orders.
