Full day of heavy rain in Richmond forecast by Met Office
A 24-hour weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for later this week.
The warning for rain runs between 6am on Wednesday (December 23) until 6am the following day.
"Heavy rainfall may lead to flooding in places and disruption to travel," the forecaster said.
Residents have been told:
- there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
- there is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing hazardous conditions
- where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services
- spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- there is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads
In Richmond it looks like Wednesday could be a washout, with a high chance of rain throughout, but the sun may show its face in between showers.
London outlook for December 23-25
Wednesday will be a wet, windy and cloudy day with heavy rain looking to persist for many.
Rain will persist into the evening, before clearing to the east overnight.
Christmas Eve will turn more settled but chilly as a ridge of high pressure begins to build. However, there will be a few sunny spells.
Christmas Day looks to be breezy and cloudy, but mostly dry.
