A Danish coffee shop in Richmond has submitted an application to extend its opening hours and the sale of alcohol during November and December.

Hagen Espresso Bar on Hill Street has applied to vary its existing licence so it can open in November and December from Monday to Sunday between 7am to 9pm.

It also seeks permission to sell alcohol throughout the week from 10am to 8:30pm.

The coffee shop says it operates as a "premium daytime coffee bar" with alcohol as a complementary offering.

Outside of November and December, Hagen wants to open everyday from 7am to 6pm and serve alcohol from 10am to 6pm.

Currently, the shop opens from Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 6pm.

Via its website, Hagen describes itself as "a Danish coffee brand born in Copenhagen. Our roots are firmly grounded in the values and traditions of our homeland, Denmark."

Residents have until Wednesday, 12 November to submit feedback on the application via the Richmond Council licensing portal.
