A Council Environmental Health Officer has awarded Base Face Pizza on Kew Road a food hygiene rating of five, the highest possible score.

In response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request, Richmond Council confirmed that there was nothing out of the ordinary during the inspection, stating that overall conditions were very good, with only a few minor issues requiring attention.

The officer's report listed several legal requirements for Base Face Pizza to address:

  • Remove a dirty tea towel from the main kitchen
  • Deep clean the walk-in fridge
  • Repair a leaking hose sink in the basement
  • Complete the Food Safety Management System forms

These actions must be completed within one to two months of the inspection, which took place on 8 July 2025.

In addition, the officer made a few non-legal recommendations, including reviewing allergen training for all staff three months after starting and mounting the fire extinguishers on the wall.

Via Instagram, the pizza shop said: "We had a visit from our lovely local EHO in Richmond for our hygiene inspection this morning (8 July), always a great feeling to pop the big 5 on the door!"

Base Face Richmond is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 12pm to 9:30pm, and is closed on Mondays.
