RIP Francis

The late Francis Spencer of Hammertons Ferry will be laid to rest early next year.

Hundreds of tributes were paid to the 74-year-old which son Andy described as an "incredible" outpouring of support.

His family announced the funeral plans:

The wonderful people of Richmond and Twickenham. We wanted to let you know that our hero Francis Spencer will be laid to rest Tuesday, January 5.

If you would like to join us, the Captain's final journey will take place along an 'open' Church Street, thanks to the kindness of the Richmond Council - between 9.15-9.30am towards St Mary's Church.

Seeing your faces either side of the street - even at a social distance would bring us a fragment of comfort on an otherwise poignant day.

We wish we could celebrate his incredible life properly with you, but that will have to wait. Your love and support has been amazing. Thank you and please stay safe x
