UPDATE: Sawyer's Hill reopens after black ice removed from road

One of the main roads in Richmond Park has been closed by police this morning (Monday, December 28).

Royal Parks Police said it was closed because the road had become icy.

"We have temporarily shut Sawyer's Hill in Richmond Park due to ice on the roads after concerns were raised by park users," the force said.

A weather warning from the Met Office for snow and ice is active in Richmond and runs until 6pm today.

The Royal Parks charity said: "Good morning everyone. Richmond Park car parks are full and we're having to manage capacity. If you're planning to drive to the park please be aware that you may find yourself stuck in traffic and unable to park.

"We've also closed Sawyer's Hill to cyclists from Richmond Gate to Sheen Roundabout, while we remove dangerous black ice from the road."
