Sawyer's Hill in Richmond Park has been reopened to cyclists, police said, after work to remove "dangerous black ice" from the road.

The road was shut between Richmond Gate and Sheen Roundabout earlier this morning (Monday, December 28).

It is always closed on weekends to motorists as part of the Royal Parks' six-month trial to limit through traffic.

It appears to be shut to drivers today as it is a Bank Holiday.

Royal Parks Police said at 1.30pm: "Road is now open again to "ï¸ "ï¸ ."

Earlier, the Royal Parks charity said car parks had filled up by 11.30am.

"Good morning everyone. Richmond Park car parks are full and we're having to manage capacity. If you're planning to drive to the park please be aware that you may find yourself stuck in traffic and unable to park.

"We've also closed Sawyer's Hill to cyclists from Richmond Gate to Sheen Roundabout, while we remove dangerous black ice from the road."
