Twenty years ago in April 2006, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 80th birthday in the newly restored Dining Parlour at Kew Palace. Empty of its original contents, it was one of several rooms refurnished to replicate the period when occupied by George III, Queen Charlotte and some of their daughters between 1801 and 1812. This talk will cover the archival research undertaken, which led to the sourcing of appropriate fabrics, designs and contemporary items required for this smallest and least ostentatious of royal palaces.
