Tommy Block's penalty secured Hampton and Richmond points for the third time in four games as they drew 1-1 with Welling United.

Taylor Maloney tucked home a penalty for Welling midway through the first after an even opening to the game.

Then three minutes into the second half Block converted from 12 yards to get the Beavers back level and neither team could find a winner meaning Hampton get an important point against a play-off chasing team.

The draw sees Hampton finish the week in 18th place in National League South and sat four points above the relegation zone.

Ruaridh Donaldson picked up a booking after ten minutes when he brought down Ade Azeez to the right of the penalty area, and Devonte Arasibia whipped the free-kick just wide of the top corner.

Jake Grey produced a good chance for the home side when he received the ball on the left and wiggled into room to pull the ball back just eluding Temi Babalola but Block came steaming in at the back post and saw his shot blocked.

Block then almost caught the 'keeper out with a cross as after his first ball in was dealt with, the ball worked back to the right wing-back and his ball in looked like it was just dipping under the bar when Myles Roberts tipped it over for a corner.

Welling then should have taken the lead after 20 minutes as a poor header back towards Joe Walsh set Azeez clean through on goal but he didn't get enough on his attempted lob and allowed the Hampton goalkeeper to push it behind.

The Wings weren't to be denied for much longer as Azeez was brough down by Donaldson when he was about to tap into the net, Maloney then stepped up and despite Walsh guessing the right way he tucked it far into the bottom corner.

Gray nearly struck back after 35 minutes when he charged to the right corner of the box and his effort struck the underside of the bar but bounced out and Welling managed to clear.

It didn't take long after the restart for Hampton to get back on terms, two Welling defenders had a bite at Liam Vincent and the second chopped him down in the box to allow Block to send the keeper the wrong way and tuck home his third league goal of the season.

Eight minutes later Marcus Sablier whipped a ball to the far post and Vincent met it with a Di Canio-style volley and it flashed just over the bar.

Hampton kept pushing for a winner and called Roberts into action on a number of occasions, Gray played a one-two with Babalola and after receiving it back curled his shot just beyond the far post.

Despite chances at both ends, no one could find a winner and the sides were forced to share the points.
