Hampton and Richmond ended their four-game losing streak in style as they won 2-0 away against fourth-place Chelmsford City in National League South. 

Luis Fernandez gave Hampton the lead late in the first half as he made the Clarets pay for being unable to deal with a long throw. 

Tommy Block then converted a second half penalty which was won by Stefan Ilic to make sure the points came back to South West London. 

The Beavers' first win in five takes them up to 16th in the table and now their attention turns to the FA Trophy second-round next weekend against Farnborough. 

Hampton started quickly and could have been ahead after five minutes when Liam Vincent's cross from the left bounced through the cluster in the box all the way through to Ben Shroll and his effort forced a good reaction save from Ovie Ejeheri. 

Cameron James marched through the middle of the pitch for Chelmsford and he was still in space 25 yards from goal and the defender let fly, but his shot was saved well by Joe Walsh. 

After 36 minutes Jake Gray drifted out to the right into space and he whipped a delicious cross to the back post and found Tommy Wood and his downward header bounced just wide of the far post. 

A minute later they found the breakthrough as Block's long throw caused havoc in the Chelmsford penalty area as the home side couldn't clear, the ball was nudged back into the centre where Fernandez, on the turn, hooked the ball beyond Ejeheri and into the net. 

Early in the second half Chelmsford could have equalised when Harry Lodovica did well down the side and sent a low ball to the back post which just went beyond the sliding Simeon Jackson. 

Just after the hour mark Ilic played Gray down the side, he cut the ball back and found Alfy Whittingham in space, his first-time shot was well saved and Connor Kurran-Browne's rebound was blocked. 

Hampton won their penalty after 72 minutes as Kurran-Browne and Ilic countered quickly, the latter fainted one way and went the other and was brought down, the referee duly pointed to the spot and Block sent the 'keeper the wrong way to double the Beavers' advantage. 

Chelmsford then laid siege to the Hampton box, searching for a way back into the game with a host of corners and free-kicks, but the away side stood up to it and made sure they clung on. 

Jackson did have the ball in the Hampton net with four minutes to play as he got on the end of James' cross but the linesman had his flag up very quickly to rule it out for offside.
