Brentford FC has released its financial report for the year end 30 June 2024, which reveal the club's revenue remained the same as 2023.

The west London club, who are enjoying its fourth season back in the Premier League, reveal that it has had a joint club-record turnover of £166.5 million (2023: £166.5 million), despite finishing in a lower league position last season (16th place) compared to the previous (9th place).

However, the club lost £29.2 million from its regular operations (excluding player trading), compared to a £4.4 million profit in 2023.

This was due to increasing player wages, player amortisation, and depreciation the club explain.

Furthermore, Brentford lost £7.9 million before tax in the 2024 financial year, although it made £25.2 million from selling players.

In 2023, it made a £9.2 million profit with only £5.6 million from player sales, showing that player sales helped reduce the club's losses in the 2024 financial year, but not enough to avoid a deficit.

The club had a cash shortfall of £29.3 million, compared to a £15 million surplus in 2023.

It also owes £29.8 million to external lenders, up from just £0.5 million in 2023.

The report also mentions that Brentford FC Owner Matthew Benham's total investment remained unchanged at £104.4 million as of 30 June 2024, including £22.8 million in loans related to the Gtech Community Stadium project.

Brentford FC say its main source of income continues to be broadcasting with sponsorship income an 'important priority in the coming years'.

Cliff Crown, Chair of Brentford, comments: "Our third season in the Premier League demonstrated the collective efforts of everyone involved at the club.

"While the team faced challenges on the pitch, the commitment and resilience of our players, staff, and supporters remained strong.

"We continued to make strides, with our owner Matthew Benham, the board of directors, and our dedicated staff driving progress.

"Our fans and partners have provided important support throughout the season, reinforcing our ambition for continued growth and success in the Premier League.

"Our financial results reflect a combination of significant investment across the club and a lower finishing position in the Premier League after a tough year hampered by player injuries.

"We invested heavily in the playing squad, our academy, facilities and staffing in order to compete on the field and lay the foundations for the future."

Beyond its finances, Brentford's financial report highlights the club's football and operational achievements from last season.

These include the Women's team enjoying its most successful season yet with a Capital Cup and Trophy double, Brentford's academy achieving Category 2 status after previously operating at Category 4, and the reopening of Wheatsheaf Park in Staines as the new home for B team and under-18s matches.
