Visitors to Richmond Park will soon be able to get more than just an outing in nature.

A Christmas tree store is opening near Roehampton Gate, selling sustainably sourced trees in partnership with the Royal Parks charity.

On Cloud Pine's pop-up store also gives customers the option of ordering their tree online for either click and collect or home deliveries across London.

Managing director John Wilkie said: "Myself and the team are grateful to have this opportunity to work during this tough time as well as alongside our friends at the Royal Parks.

"We all look forward to bringing an easy and reliable Christmas tree service to the people of London this festive season.

"My regular work in the performing arts has been affected by covid, so I set up this exciting new venture, building upon 10 years' experience in the Christmas tree industry.

"The team and I are again looking forward to helping Londoners create a special and fun-filled Christmas, in this challenging time."

On Cloud Pine said the safety and comfort of customers and staff is of the utmost importance.

Following government guidelines, the spacious outdoor stores will have one-way systems in place, protective screens at checkout and a contactless payment system. PPE will be worn by staff at all times and there will be enhanced cleaning of facilities for customers and staff.

The company is committed to offering opportunities to people suffering due to the pandemic, such as those from the arts sector.

"We have assembled a friendly and knowledgeable team, many of whom are having to put their regular work on hold, but are looking forward to working for a supportive and caring company, to create a welcoming, and safe environment for customers to buy their Christmas trees," they said.

"From the outset, On Cloud Pine's goal has been to create a brand with a real focus on sustainability.

"Our trees arrive fresh directly from the growers, who prioritise minimal use of approved pesticides and fertilisers.

"It is important that our customers know that their tree comes from a sustainable supply chain, and every tree that we sell comes with a unique code that gives the customer information about the journey of their tree.

"By purchasing one of these trees customers will be helping The Royal Parks charity care for these beautiful green spaces."

Christmas tree sizes range from three to 12 feet.

Customers can choose to book a timeslot to buy their tree, or visit on the day.

One Cloud Pine will also be running pop-up stores in nearby Bushy and Greenwich parks. They will be open seven days a week, from Thursday, November 26 to Sunday, December 23.

Opening times in Richmond are 8am to 3.45pm and the Bushy and Greenwich stores close at 5.45pm.

Additionally, there will be a chance for customers to win a Christmas tree this festive season.
