Richmond is home to a number of famous faces - but even among a crowd of celebrities John Altman stands out.

The actor who gained nationwide fame by playing 'Nasty' Nick Cotton in EastEnders is a resident and spoke about his love for the area's green spaces in a recent interview with Surrey Life.

In the piece he namechecks Richmond, Bushy and Home parks and the river, adding: "It's all very convenient and all very beautiful.

"I've got a little garden which is great, a patch of sky, one tree and lots of flowers!"

He told the magazine about the Surrey vistas he appreciates, but his favourite of all is here in Richmond.

"The most amazing view is King Henry's Mound in Richmond Park because when looking directly through the telescope you can see a picturesque view of the Thames Valley and an uninterrupted view of St Paul's Cathedral."
