The long-awaited new NHS COVID-19 has launched today (Thursday, September 24).
Residents across the country have been encouraged to download it.
It becomes a key part of the government's Track and Trace system which is vital in combatting the coronavirus.
So, what does it do?
Contact tracing
The app will send you a notification if you've been in close contact with someone who has tested positive.
It uses Bluetooth to share information with nearby phone users.
Coronavirus in your neighbourhood
It can also tell you the risk level of your area.
The only personal data you have to put into the app is the start of your postcode (for example, TW2).
Most areas of South West London are currently at a 'medium' level of risk.
If this changes and your postcode district becomes high risk, the app will issue an alert and give you advice on what action to take.
Checking in
NHS COVID-19 lets you check in to venues using its built-in QR code scanner.
The app also links out to the gov.uk website which contains the latest coronavirus guidance.
Test results
You can also find out test results via the app - but it does not appear that you can book tests through it.
"Any data shared with the app is held on your phone," covid19.nhs.uk says in the video which you can watch above.
"Nobody will know who or where you are. You can delete the app and all data at any time.
"The NHS COVID-19 app is the fastest way to see if you're at risk from the virus.
"The faster you know, the quicker you can alert and protect your loved ones. Download it today."
