E-scooter provider TIER is running safety sessions and offering free trial rides this Thursday in Richmond centre to mark the launch of their e-scooters in the borough.
TIER is one of the chosen operators taking part in London's e-scooter trial alongside Dott and Lime. This is currently the only legal way of riding e-scooters in public places in London.
Tomorrow, Thursday August 5, Rolltech brand ambassadors will be in Lower George Street (outside Amanda's Flowers), from 8am - 1pm.
They will be helping people sign up to the company's app, to register an account, and showing people how to ride the e-scooters safely.
You will also receive 2 free unlocks and 20 minutes of riding time with TIER to start scooting your way around Richmond.
Where to find e-scooters in Richmond.
Georgia Yexley, Head of Cities, UK & Ireland at TIER said: "It's an exciting time for TIER as we continue to expand the service in fleet size and across boroughs through the summer months.
"We're thrilled to be a part of the landscape in the beautiful streets of Richmond upon Thames and provide our service to residents and visitors.
"We're committed to providing a safe and green way to travel across the city and encourage people to reduce short car journeys by taking a TIER."
On safety, she said to Nub News: "Safety is TIER's top priority, which is why all our riders must be over 18 and hold a valid driving licence and are required to read key safety messaging and pass in-app training before taking their first ride to help protect customers and the wider public.
"TIER's modern fleet design and standards mean our vehicles are some of the safest e-scooters ever made.
"Safety features include reflectors, an always-on light and triple brakes, with all first-time customers automatically placed in "beginner mode" which reduces the speed of their first trip.
"We are also striving to lead and shape industry standards that can be adopted across the industry with our UK Safety Board, a body of independent experts in accessibility and road safety. The Board work closely with us to develop policies and ensure the highest safety standards for all our customers, pedestrians and road users."
