Train services across the area are being cancelled this morning as South Western Railway have warned people not to travel on the network.

Virtually all services out of Whitton, Teddington, Hampton and St Margarets have been cancelled with only a few trains running out of Twickenham and Richmond.

SWR Tweeted: "We are receiving a high volume of tweets and will try to respond to you as soon as possible.

"We strongly advise that you don't travel on our network until further notice."

The Twickenham MP, Munira Wilson, said: "Having checked live departures, it seems every single service from Whitton, Teddington, Hampton, St Margarets and everything except 1 or 2 trains from Twickenham are cancelled this morning. Do check before you travel."

SWR and Network Rail issued a joint statement says continuing problems caused by trees on the line are still causing severe disruption.

They said: "Following a series of further incidents caused by high winds on Sunday evening, SWR is urging customers not to travel on Monday.

"While we are working hard to run as many services as we safely can, strong winds and a 50mph speed restriction will cause delays and cancellations throughout the day.

"We also anticipate further line blockages due to fallen trees, with weather conditions likely to hamper efforts to help stranded customers.

"Since Friday's heavy winds of over 90mph, Network Rail have cleared more than 50 fallen trees from the SWR region.

"With the wind direction expected to change it is very likely that more trees will be brought down during storm Franklin, having been weakened over the last two days."

Travellers are being advised to check the SWR website for train details.

Some parks are delaying opening this morning as staff check trees for safety. Richmond Park has re-opened, however the Isabella Plantation, Pembroke Lodge Gardens and Chohole path remain closed.

Marble Hill Park and cafe are closed today – Monday.

English Heritage said: "We look forward to opening as soon as possible to welcome our community and visitors again.

"Please accept our apology for any inconvenience caused."

Ham House is closed again today. A spokesman said: "High wind speeds continue at Ham today meaning the site will remain closed on Monday 21 February.

"For you safety please do not visit during this time and we look forward to welcoming you back following improved weather conditions."
