The Richmond Park MP has warned the new Conservative PM, Liz Truss, is not up to the job.

Sarah Olney, who is the Treasury and Business spokesman for the Lib-Dems in Westminster, has criticised the new Prime Minister's preparedness for the task ahead.

Speaking after Truss' confirmation as the new Prime Minister, Miss Olney said: "Over the course of her leadership campaign, Liz Truss has continually proven how out of touch she is with the general public, and that she is totally unprepared for the scale of the crisis this country is facing.

"We should have already seen a concrete announcement as to what will be done to support households and businesses with sky-rocketing energy bills, yet incredibly, we are still waiting."

She questioned whether a Truss administration will be any better than Johnson, saying: "Make no mistake, this is the same administration with a new coat of paint. Ministers might move departments, but they are the same government that has failed us time and time again.

"The British public need reassurance, yet all they have heard is rhetoric. Truss must come clean right now and provide a plan to save millions of families being plunged into poverty"

Political analysts suggest that Truss, who was supported by 81,000 Tory party members, is already in a precarious, position, given a lack of support across all wings of the Conservative party.
