A brand new community repair hub has been launched at the refurbished Grove Gardens Chapel in Richmond.

Residents were invited to celebrate the reopening of the Old Burial Ground chapel after a major restoration project this past Saturday, 7 March.

Part of the reopening to the chapel included the addition of a new repair and reuse hub, named The Fixery.

Richmond Council will lease the building for two days a week to run the initiative.

On the opening day, visitors brought small household and electrical items for repair in exchange for a small donation.

Also, the hub featured clothes swaps, pre-loved teddy bears, craft materials and coffee for visitors.

Built between 1875 and 1877 to serve a rapidly growing local population, the chapel had fallen into serious disrepair by the mid-1990s, with a collapsed roof, rotting timbers and birds nesting inside.

The Fixery is open on Friday and Saturday, 11am - 4pm. To learn more click here.
