Thames Water continues Richmond Hill repair works after burst pipe disruption
By Cesar Medina 14th May 2026
Thames Water has confirmed that reinstatement works following the major burst pipe on Richmond Hill are continuing to progress, with resurfacing works carried out today (Thursday, 14 May).
In an update issued on Monday, 11 May, the utility company said repair and restoration works in the area were "progressing well" following the burst water main earlier this month.
The company confirmed tarmac resurfacing took place today as part of efforts to fully restore the road and surrounding area.
Thames Water said it will remain on site until all agreed reinstatement works have been completed.
"We'll remain on site until all agreed reinstatement work has been completed and will continue to keep any noise and disruption to a minimum wherever possible," said Thames Water.
"We appreciate how disruptive this burst water pipe incident has been and would like to apologise again for the inconvenience caused."
The burst water main on Sunday, 3 May caused major flooding on Richmond Hill, leaving some residents without water and damaging roads in the area.
The incident also led to significant travel disruption, with temporary five-way traffic lights installed while emergency repairs were carried out.
Last week, Sarah Olney called on Thames Water to improve the ageing infrastructure on Richmond Hill following the incident.
The MP urged the company to prioritise long-term upgrades to prevent similar incidents happening again.
