The Nando's in Richmond, which has been styled to pay tribute to the US hit TV series Ted Lasso, is running a giveaway on Saturday.

The chicken chain is the sponsor of fictional AFC Richmond, who are at the centre of the series starring Jason Sudeikis as the American coach who takes charge of a Premier League team.

As a result, the Richmond restaurant has already changed its signage, to include the blue and red of the team's kit.

On Saturday, from 11.30am it will be giving away 200 of its famous egg tarts, which are versions of the Portuguese Pasteis de nata.

The promotion is a nod to the team's star player Jamie Tartt, whose story arc has moved from villain through to hero in the latest third series of the multi-award-winning show.

After what's already been an Extra Hot season for A.F.C. Richmond, Nando's is celebrating the club's spiciest striker and giving fans a chance to score a FREE tart in honour of Jamie Tartt this weekend.

A spokesman said: "Nando's Portuguese custard tarts AKA 'Naughty Natas' will be freshly baked and given out at Nando's Richmond this Saturday from 11:30am. Fans should be quick though, only the first 200 fans that ask for a "Jamie Tartt" on the day will get one.

"Last month and ahead of the third season kicking off, Nando's was announced as an official sponsor of Ted Lasso's team. To celebrate, the 'Official PERi-PERi Chicken of A.F.C. Richmond' has added Ted Lasso-themed touches to its Richmond restaurant.

"These include BELIEVE-themed spice flags – Ted's favourite saying - A.F.C. Richmond napkins and even updating its iconic restaurant sign to the local team's colours.

"Want to be in with a chance of getting a FREE tart? Just head to Nando's Richmond on Saturday 29th April at 11:30am. Follow @nandosuk on Instagram, TikTok and Twitter for all the latest Nando's X A.F.C. Richmond news. Watch A.F.C. Richmond on Apple TV+."
