Students across Richmond celebrate 'outstanding' GCSE results

Students across the borough received their GCSE results today (24 August).
Nationally, pass rates have fallen for the second year running with 68.2% of all grades marked at grades 4/C and above.
In London, 72.6% of students were awarded grades at 4/C or above.
Schools across Twickenham and Richmond have shared their excellent results.
Twickenham School:
Students performed superbly well in all subjects, with 71% of students at Twickenham School passing the core subjects of English and Maths.
This is the highest ever proportion of students for the school.
Sarah Bromly, Deputy Headteacher said: " Twickenham School are celebrating an impressive set of GCSE results which show outstanding progress as a result of the high standards and expectations for all students including the very best all-round education and excellent pastoral care."
Ellie Leader-Craig achieved six 9s and Cyrus Graham-Gaisie and Tom Johnson both exceeded their target grades on average by 2 grades.
Waldegrave School:
91% of students at Waldegrave School achieved at least 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths at Grade 4 and above.
76% achieved at least 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade 5 and above and 47% of all grades achieved were grades 7 to 9.
Mrs E Tongue, Headteacher at the school said: " Congratulations to all our Year 11 students who received their GCSE results today. We are so proud of their achievements.
"Following several years of Covid adjustments, these are the first set of public GCSE exams to return to pre-pandemic standards. Therefore we are delighted that these results exceed those achieved in 2019."
She added: "Our students have worked incredibly hard to achieve these tremendous results. There were no mitigations applied to this summer's exams, yet we know that this cohort experienced considerable disruption due to a number of factors beyond their control. The positivity and resilience they have consistently demonstrated has impressed us all.
"In addition to our students' hard work, these results reflect the dedication and commitment of Waldegrave staff and families. We hope that everyone will have an opportunity to celebrate these results.
"We would like to wish all our Y11 students success in the next stage of their education and we are proud that we have supported them to achieve their goals and aspirations."
Orleans Park:
Students at Orlean's Park achieved the best English and Maths combined results that the school has ever achieved, with a pass rate of 89% across both subjects and 80% of all students achieving a strong pass (grade 5) in both subjects.
Over half the grades in both subjects awarded were grades 9 - 7.
50% of students also achieved 9-7 grades, exceeding the national figure of 22.4%.
84% of students at the school achieved a grade 5, exceeding the national average of 54.5%.
Students also achieved 15% grade 9s across the year group, exceeding the national figure of 5%.
Headteacher Ms Pacey said: "I am very proud of our students. They have worked so hard and I was really impressed with their attitude during the examination period. Their hard work over the past two years has paid off.
"These results are also testament to the incredibly hard work that has been put in by staff and everyone involved in the school community. These results also confirm what I already knew when joining Orleans Park School; that the students and staff set incredibly high standards, which enable our students to 'be the best they can be'. I wish all of our Year 11 students every success moving forward and have no doubt that they will go on to achieve great things. "
A special mention goes to the five students who achieved grade 9s in all but one subject (Samuel, Thomas, Caitlin, Max and Dylan) and the progress of the students who regularly committed to attending Progress Club, the National Tutoring Programme and various other interventions throughout the academic year (Ahmed, Lia, Max C, Gabriel, Archie and Mani).
Mr Dodge, Assistant Headteacher, said: "These results go to show that through dedication, commitment and expert support, our students have been able to achieve the grades they want and deserve."
St Richard Reynolds:
Almost three-quarters of year 11 students at St Richard Reynolds achieved at least a grade 5 in both English and Mathematics with 90% attaining at least a grade 4.
Richard Burke, Principal, said: "As with all of our students, their success is always a result of many factors, not least the dedication and hard work of our staff who day in day out create a loving, challenging and inspiring culture based predominantly on the positive relationships they develop with all around them.
"We also highly value and appreciate the support of our parents and carers, acknowledging and highlighting this priceless partnership that helps to generate consistently strong outcomes for young people."
There were a number of notable performances, including Liliana Tokarska who attained 10 GCSEs at grade 9 and Darcey Potter and Oliwier Korniak gained 9 grade 9s and a grade 8.
Christ's School:
Students at Christ's School celebrated 'outstanding' GCSE results.
Students excelled across the curriculum, with 47% of students receiving a Grade 8 or above and Religious Studies where 27% achieved a grade 8 or 9.
Alyssa P was overjoyed with her 7 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s and a grade 7 whilst Margherita F celebrated achieving 7 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s and a grade 7. Jaden D-L was delighted to receive 6 grade 9s 2 grade 8s, a grade 7 and a 6
Helen Dixon, Headteacher, said: "Today we have celebrated the outstanding achievements of all of our students. All our students' results are a testament to their commitment, resilience, hard work and the support offered by a fabulous team of teachers and support staff. We are delighted that all of their efforts have paid off and we look forward to welcoming many into the Sixth Form in September".
