Police are appealing for information following a rape in Twickenham.

The incident happened at around 8am, on Monday, 21 August, in Marble Hill Park,

A woman, aged in her mid-40s, reported that she had been raped by a stranger.

Following enquiries, a 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape, later that day, at an address in Lambeth.

 He was charged on Wednesday, 23 August.

Detective Inspector Simon Sherlock from the South West Command Unit said: "Protecting woman and girls is an absolute priority for the Met and the woman who was attacked is being fully supported by specialist officers.

 "We are conducting a thorough investigation, but we are also asking for the public's help. We know there were people in the park at the time of the assault, but even if you did not witness the incident, you could still have vital information.

 "I am asking anyone who was in and around Marble Hill Park at about 8am on Monday, 21 August to come forward. You can always call Crimestoppers if you do not want to give your name, but however you decide, please do make contact and tell us what you know."
