A popular local dance school is launching new inclusive classes in Twickenham designed specifically for children with additional needs and their families.

Babyballet Twickenham, Richmond & Kingston upon Thames has announced the introduction of "Shine", a new set of SEND-friendly dance sessions aimed primarily at children in EYFS and Key Stage 1, although open to all ages.

The classes are designed to provide a safe and supportive environment where children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities can express themselves through dance alongside their parents or carers.

Babyballet Twickenham say Shine will offer a welcoming space where families feel understood, encouraged and empowered, while also giving children the opportunity to build confidence and connect with others without fear of judgement.

The programme has been developed in collaboration with SEND experts and families to ensure it meets the needs of those taking part, particularly for children who may find mainstream dance classes less suitable.

Classes will take place at Whitton Baptist Church on Saturday mornings, led by babyballet teacher Miss Ellie.

She said: "I'm so excited to start teaching Shine as the essence of the class represents my core values as a babyballet teacher – joy, self-expression and confidence.

"Dance is the most inclusive type of language, ensuring every child feels safe, welcomed and seen."

Franchise owner Miss Danielle added that inclusivity has always been central to the school's ethos.

She continued: "It has always been a huge passion of mine that every child should be able to access dance.

"By adding Shine to our syllabus we really now are a school where everyone can learn the love of dance."
