We've all heard of Black Friday, but did you know that this weekend offers another opportunity to bag some Christmas bargains?

Today (Saturday, December 5) - or Small Business Saturday - independent businesses from across the UK will be offering discounts on their products, to encourage people to 'shop small' and support their local traders.

In 2019, the seventh year of the campaign, it was estimated that £800 million was spent in small British businesses, with 17.6 million people taking part.

In and around Richmond, businesses have already started advertising their Small Business Saturday deals.

Susan runs online jewellery shop Timeless Vintage Jewels and an antiques site Tales to Tell Antiques from home.

"I'm currently offering free delivery from both business to TW9 and TW10 until the end of the year. On the jewellery site it uses a voucher code shipmefree," she said.

"On the antiques side it's not a full shop online so buyers just have get in touch. I have everything photographed clearly on there and can offer video calls if the want to see things more closet before committing, or we can meet locally so they can inspect items properly."

Simple First Aid is a SmallBizSat100 winner from 2019.

Founder Tania Cheney is offering a 15% discount on all live online courses.

Some shoppers have made an early start and have already hit the stores.

Richmond Park MP Sarah Olney went to Richmond and visited some awesome independent shops including Level Crossing Records, Pandemonium, Rosie and Java, the Open Book and newly opened Parade's End Books in Ham.
