Richmond's Christ’s School claims fifth U16 national basketball championship

Christ's School in Richmond has once again proven its dominance on the court, securing the U16 Dynamik National Schools Premier Basketball Championship for the fifth time.

The Queen's Road-based school triumphed over John Fisher School (Croydon) 84-67 in the final, held on Thursday, 27 March, at the Manchester Performance Centre.

This triumph marks the fifth time in the past nine years that Christ's School has claimed a National School Basketball Championship. 

In a thrilling final, Christ's School showed exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination to secure a dominant victory.

Their performance further cemented their reputation as one of the most successful teams in the history of the competition.

MVP honours went to Christ's Arthur P-G, who achieved an unprecedented triple-double with 20 points, 12 assists & 10 rebounds while Kimbe N scored 30 points on 60% shooting.  

"We are incredibly proud of our team's dedication and hard work throughout the season," said Will Wise, Head Coach of Christ's School Basketball Team.

"This win is a testament to the talent and commitment of these young athletes. It's an honor to bring the championship home once again, and we're excited for what the future holds for this team."

Tom Smith, Head of P.E expressed his pride in the achievement.

He added: "We, as a school, are extremely proud of our students. This victory is not just a testament to their skill on the court but to their determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship."

The victory adds to Christ's School's remarkable legacy in the competition, reinforcing its position as a powerhouse in youth basketball.

With five championships in just nine years, the school's basketball programme continues to set a high standard for excellence.
