According to new data analysis Richmond Upon Thames is in the top three most active boroughs in London.

It is perhaps not surprising, given the gorgeous outdoor spaces we have, the abundance of cyclists, the plethora of marathons on offer and other fun races for all abilities, and opportunities for outdoor swimming in the borough.

The analysis comes from Temple Gym, which looked at data from Public Health England, the Department for Transport, and the Independent Directory to discover which boroughs have the most active population.

The top-ranking borough for fitness was City of London, with Hammersmith and Fulham coming in second place before Richmond in third.

Factors taken into consideration in the ranking include the percentage of active adults, as well as the percentage of people who walk or cycle five times per week. Also included in the ranking is the number of gyms and leisure centres per 100,000 people.

According to Public Health England data the percentage of active adults in Richmond Upon Thames is 92%! This ranked higher than top-placed City of London which has 76%.

According to the Department for Transport, the percentage of adults who walk or cycle five times per week in the borough is 79%.

Perhaps most impressively, we only have 19 gyms compared to 93 in the City of London, meaning Richmonders are impressively motivated to get out and make the most of the beautiful borough that we live in.

The boroughs at the bottom of Temple Gym's ranking are Enfield, Redbridge, and Barking and Dagenham.
