When life returns to normal and everyone gets travelling again, Richmond's main railway station will be looking as good as new.

South Western Railway is investing £1.5 million in a repainting programme to improve 46 stations across the network.

This includes eight London stations – Richmond, Wimbledon, Kingston, Berrylands, Teddington, Tolworth, Vauxhall and Wandsworth Town which have either been repainted or are in process of having the work done.

All stations included in the programme are receiving a complete repaint - both internally and externally.

Alan Penlington is SWR's director of customer experience.

He said: "At South Western Railway, we are committed to improving our stations and performance at every stage of the journey.

"We know that great customer service consists of more than getting people from A to B, and our determination to enhance our stations is just one example of improving the wider travel experience.

"The £1.5 million investment will smarten up a range of stations across our network and we hope customers at Richmond and Teddington will enjoy the new look."
