Fundraiser completes 6,000m ascent up Terrace Gardens steps
While the pandemic put paid to a Richmond resident's plans to scale Everest for charity, he turned his attentions elsewhere.
Jon Maguire completed the first 6,000 metres of the ascent by scaling a different 'mountain' - Terrace Gardens in Richmond.
He helped coordinate the Evereset Challenge for Community Action Nepal and £15,000 has been raised for the charity.
'Hero' pub wins national award and moves onto next charitable mission
A pub in the town centre won a national award for supporting the poor, homeless, vulnerable and those facing financial hardship during lockdown.
The Angel and Crown was crowned the winner in the Best Community Initiative category of the Hospitality Lockdown Hero Awards.
Its trophy now takes pride of place on the bar.
Parking now banned on Richmond Riverside
World Car Free Day was held earlier this week and in fitting timing, parking on Richmond Riverside was banned.
News of the move to impose a restricted parking zone on riverside proved popular and it will keep the area an attractive, natural space.
White Cross punter arrives by canoe as river banks swell
Many businesses would shut up shop if their premises flooded in such a way as the Thames did last weekend.
But not the White Cross pub.
Its team donned Wellington boots and customers sat happily on the outdoor benches as staff waded through the water to deliver food and drinks.
New electronics shop opens in Richmond town centre
In a boost to the high street, a new electronics and furniture shop has opened.
Electro Mobile Gadgets and Vapes is occuping the former Superdrug premises in George Street.
Dickins & Jones signage reappears in blast from the past
Across the road, House of Fraser is being deconstructed.
And during this process, old signage reappeared to give long-time residents and visitors to the town centre a blast from the past.
The black and gold Dickins & Jones signage can be seen again on both main entrances - catch it quickly before it disappears for good.
